The thing that gets me about this song is the line, Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose. Because I always want to argue the point. But I’m not totally sure which side I’m on.
It’s a kind of depressing song. So, sorry about that. But I stumbled across a video of Pink singing it, which is a piece of cognitive dissonance that makes me smile.*
* Fair warning, this might not work on you. But it’s Pink! Singing country! And she’s wearing a skull ring! And her guitarist it wearing a letterman jacket! I just… okay, never mind. It’s strange in my head, okay?

I agree that those who have nothing left to lose are FREE – they are no longer bound by risk. But freedom means other things as well – Freedom from hunger means that you now have something to lose – English is rubbish as a language to discuss in – The amount of time spent agreeing terms – Le Sigh

Yeah, cause there is a freedom in having nothing left to lose. But who genuinely has NOTHING to lose? And there are a lot of other ways of defining freedom.
It makes my head crazy and I do the squinty face of dubiousness in its direction.
