This song is about dancing in supermarket aisles. Or loving the wrong person. One of those. The part I’ve quoted below is very… well, it could be one of my characters saying that. The other one’s a little more likely to dance in supermarket aisles though.
I like the juxtaposition of the happy music and the angsty lyrics. The song has a rather surreal quality that is only reinforced if you watch the video clip. So have fun with that. I’m going to have a nap.
Goodbye
Should be saying that to you by now, shouldn’t I?
Laying down a law that I live by
Well, maybe next time
/
I simmer then I burn for a someone
The wrong one

You have mis-interpreted. Wearing Leather jackets make even the most angsty and heart broken moment in your life, something to dance about. If she was wearing a leather jacket in her “out of the dream” moment, the security guard would have joined in.

You think? I thought it was a ‘dance it out’ thing. You know, they say ‘hug it out’ but dancing seems more therapeutic. Then again, if I was dressed as Elvis the urge to sing and dance might be rather uncontrollable…
